The county commissioners have signed a contract with Stryker and Company of Montrose in the amount of $2,440,739.31 for the design/build of the Human Services Building. It's expected to take about a year to complete the building.
Design/build provides more flexibility and permits design upgrades within the amount of the contract as the building progresses. Soil condition will inform the design of the foundation. Furnishings, cubicles and any abatement needs will become a part of the design as they are identified. The commissioners noted that decisions can be made as conditions become known, negating the need for a lot of expensive change orders.
At this stage of the design, it is anticipated that the county attorney, district attorney and probation will also have offices in the Human Services building when it is completed.
