The countdown is on for Pioneer Days in Crawford June 6-9. The parade committee urges participants to show how this "small town has a big heart" by strutting their stuff in the Crawford Parade, Saturday, June 8. With so much going on that weekend, it's hard to pinpoint the highlights of Pioneer Days, but the parade has got to be high on the list of events not to miss.
Pre-registration for the parade is highly encouraged. Those who register by mail or at the Crawford 1st State Bank of Colorado by May 31 qualify for a special cash prize and "speed pass" for check-in on parade day. All entries are judged and qualify for cash and ribbon awards. General entries can register on the morning of the parade between 8 and 9:30 a.m. at the Montessori School at 52 Cedar Ave. in Crawford. Equine and animal entries can register at 9:30 a.m. across from the Crawford Methodist Church at 297 Dogwood Ave. All entrants must be registered by 9:30 a.m.
Come join the big-hearted revelers with your participation in the parade and help make Pioneer Days unforgettable, both for observers and for yourselves. If you wish to help behind the scenes of Pioneer Days, the committee is still looking for volunteers to help with early morning traffic control, parade lineup and afternoon cleanup. Further information is available on the website www.pioneerdayscrawford.com or at Tristan.firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Pioneer Days Committee is also pleased to announce it is calling for pictures for the first annual photo contest. Everyone is a photographer these days, so share your best efforts. Pioneer Days is looking for those photos that best capture the essence of the celebration. There will be a grand prize winner and up to 10 honorable mentions. The winners will be featured on the event's website and Facebook page. Rules and details about the contest will be available at the information booth in the park and on the website starting June 5.
