Rene Loy Maas, Delta County election official, has been appointed to the Standards Board of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
Loy Maas was nominated by Dwight Shellman, of the Colorado Secretary of State's office.
A 110-member Standards Board is designated to assist U.S. Assistance Commission (EAC) in carrying out its mandates under the law. The board consists of 55 state election officials selected by their respective chief state election official and 55 local election officials selected through a process supervised by the chief state election official.
County clerk and recorder Teri Stephenson said, "We know the diligent work that Rene does for Delta County. Rene frequently gets calls from other counties around the state for her expertise. For Rene to be selected to sit on this board is such a wonderful opportunity for her."
Rene said, "I'm very honored to represent Colorado on the EAC Standards Board and I hope that I can add good ideas to the voluntary voting system guidelines and better standards for all voting systems.
"I'm excited. I'm looking forward to it," she said.
Loy Maas will be attending the first meeting of the Standards Board this week in Memphis.
