Colorado Parks and Wildlife has awarded $370,800 to 10 shooting and archery ranges across Colorado through the agency's Shooting Range Development Grant Program (SRDG). The funds will go toward developing new shooting ranges and to upgrade existing ranges.
A $6,500 grant awarded to the Delta Trap Club will cover the cost of a new PA system and signage.
The program's funds come from federal excise taxes generated by the sale of hunting and shooting equipment, in addition to funds generated by license fees. Local partners in the projects also commit at least 25 percent in matching funds for the work.
Since 2012, SRDG has awarded more than $3.3 million in funding to 70 shooting and archery ranges across Colorado.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
