A team from Iron Horse and Cattle in Hotchkiss is among 16 teams that have qualified to compete for both team and individual honors at the Mountain States Ranch Rodeo Finals. The finals will be held Sept. 7-8 at the Montrose County Event Center in Montrose.
Three other teams from Delta County -- A Cross A Livestock, J.T. Cattle Co. and J $ Livestock, all from Delta -- are among the fnalists as well.
Pen and doctor competition, calf branding, wild cow milking, trailer loading and stray gather are just a few of the events.
A Western Heritage Expo and the 2018 Western Slope Draft Horse Challenge are free to the public prior to the Ranch Rodeo Finals, starting at 6:30 p.m. both days. Admission to the finals is $10 for adults, $5 for children, and kids under six are free. The doors open at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, and at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
