Delta's Panthers entered this year's state soccer playoffs with a 4-3 3A WSL record and 7-7 overall. Their first-round opponents was Peak to Peak (10-5 overall). The Pumas scored two first-half goals and added a third in the second half to earn a second-round berth against No. 10 St. Mary's, which was a 1-1 tie that became a win for Peak to Peak.
The Pumas advanced to quarterfinal play against No. 2 Kent Denver on May 15.
Delta finished its season with a 7-8 record and is sure to be a threat again in 2020 with a number of talented underclassmen returning next season. Replacing senior Missa Webb, the team leader in scoring (12 goals; 52 for four years) will be one component the Panthers must deal with next season. Other seniors moving on include Marian Blanks and Abby Williams.
The majority of team members remaining are sophomores and freshmen. Three juniors will be possible returners for next season.
Junior Iris Zhang scored two of the three goals Peak to Peak put into the net while sophomore Daneca Nelsen had the third score. Assists went to Jules Walther and Nelsen.
