Delta netters volley past Basalt

Delta's Panthers played just one volleyball match this past week and posted a 3-1 decision after visiting Basalt on Monday, Oct. 8.

Delta won the first two sets 25-11 and 25-8 before losing set three 25-23. A fourth set was needed to decide the winner and the Panthers obliged with a 25-20 win to make the final score 3-1.

Junior Sara Geddes had a big day for Delta with 17 kills and 16 digs with senior Lauren Davey finishing the match with 11 kills.

Senior Abby Carlson doled out 33 assists in the win for Delta with juniors Haylin McCulloch and Madi Gieck topping stats in service receptions with 20 and 15 respectively.

Freshman Erika Kuta was the Panthers' top ace producer with three.

Delta is fourth in the 3A WSL with its 5-2 league record and an 11-6 overall mark. Coal Ridge rests on top of the league with an 8-0 and 12-5 slate. Cedaredge is second (7-1 and 14-2) and Aspen is third (4-1 and 12-5).

This week's volleyball schedule had Delta at Coal Ridge on Tuesday, Oct. 16 and at home Oct. 17 against Olathe (2-6 and 5-12).
