Feb. 3:

At 12:55 a.m., officers responded to Highway 92 and 1800 Road to assist Colorado State Patrol with a stop involving multiple juveniles.

Criminal mischief was reported at Delta City Cemetery.

Daniel Joseph Winter, 40, of Delta was arrested and jailed on two warrants with a total of $1,000 in bonds.

Officers responded to Quality Inn for a disturbance. Billy Ray Bean, 61, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged obstruction of a police officer and resisting arrest.

Code enforcement responded to the 500 block of E. 20th Street on a report of cattle being a nuisance. The owner put up fencing to keep them in their field.

Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Bluff Place for a disturbance. Michael Alan Abeyta, 33, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged obstruction of telephone service as an act of domestic violence and child abuse - simple. Airiton Bre Phillips, 26, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment as an act of domestic violence and child abuse - simple.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for allegedly having no visible license plate (covered with dirt, mud, debris). Eric Adam Malinowski, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged violation of a protection order and was issued a ticket for alleged driving while license suspended and displayed expired temporary registration.

Feb. 4:

Dogs were reported running loose in the 1200 block of Frontier Road. The dogs ran through a field and were finally picked up in the 1000 block of Cloverleaf Lane. The two dogs were impounded at TAILS.

Code enforcement im-pounded a dog running at large in the 500 block of Leon Street.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of E. 3rd Street on a report of a single vehicle accident. No injuries were reported or observed.

An officer responded to the 300 block of E. 2nd Street for a theft from a vehicle.

Officers responded to Wendy's on a report of motor vehicle theft.

Feb. 5:

Thomas William Zachary Foster, 23, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $750 bond.

An officer responded to Delta High School on a report of a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to Sunset Valley RV Park for a disturbance. Justin Franklen Davenport, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged obstruction of telephone service as an act of domestic violence.

Feb. 6:

Staci Marie Moralez, 33, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged dog running at large prohibited and city animal license required.

Feb. 7:

Officers responded to Highway 92 and Stafford Lane for a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported or observed.

Code enforcement responded to the 700 block of 1575 Road on reports of a loose dog in the area. The dog owner was given a verbal warning for running at large and animal license required.

An officer responded to a residence on Carpenter Street on an agency assist concerning a juvenile runaway.

Feb. 8:

Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of W. 8th Street on a report of an adult male being bitten by a snake. Francisco Javier Cruz, 32, of Delta was arrested and jailed on an alleged violation of a protection order.

An officer responded to the area of W. 3rd Street and Confluence drive on a report of an abandoned vehicle blocking traffic. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Shae Ellen Gero, 26, of Gunnison was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting at City Market.

Code enforcement responded to the 1000 block of Grand Avenue on a report of barking dogs and maintenance standards.

A traffic stop was conducted at E. 7th Street and Leon Street. Jesse Dale Farge, 35, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged unlawful possession of a controlled substance, disregard of a stop sign and driving motor vehicle while license revoked.

Officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Grand Avenue for a disturbance. Nancy Jean Miller, 68, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged third degree assault.

Feb. 9:

A traffic stop was conducted in the 1000 block of Highway 92. Lorenzo Jesus Tostado, 51, of Phoenix, Ariz., was issued a ticket for alleged driving without a valid license and driving under the influence (alcohol) after he was transported by ambulance to Delta County Memorial Hospital for medical reasons.

An officer responded to the 1200 block area of E. 13th Street on a report of a Wanted Person. Eric Xavier Johnston, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $1,500 bond.

An officer responded to the 2200 block of Pioneer Road on a report of a traffic accident involving a vehicle and a deer. No injuries were reported or observed.

Officers responded to the area of Highway 50 and H-38 Road to assist with an adult male having a medical emergency.

Officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of A Street on a report of a wanted person. Anthony Starleigh Gallegos, 38, of Paonia was arrested and jailed on two warrants with a total of $6,000 in bonds.

An officer responded to the 100 block of W. 4th Street to assist the Colorado State Patrol with a traffic stop.

Reminder: The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Feb. 5:

The sheriff's office took a report on a male subject who has failed to register as a sex offender. The complaint is under investigation.

Deputies responded to an assault at a residence in Austin. Investigation determined an assault had taken place but the victim did not wish to pursue charges.

Deputies were contacted concerning a constant problem with dogs running at large near the town of Crawford. A summons was issued to the dog owner.

Feb. 6:

At about 8 a.m., Colorado State Patrol requested the assistance of the K-9 unit to conduct an exterior air sniff of a vehicle contacted on Highway 50, mile marker 84 in Montrose County.

Deputies responded to a juvenile problem at a residence in Austin.

Deputies responded to a report of a burglary at an address on B Road near Delta.

An Eckert resident reported someone was illegally video-taping his house. Deputies made contact with everyone involved; no charges were filed.

Shortly after 10 p.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident near Highway 92, mile marker 22.5. The occupants were not injured, but the vehicle had severe damage. Colorado State Patrol was on accident alert at the time due to poor road conditions.

Feb. 7:

A vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on Escalante Canyon Road.

Deputies assisted Grand Junction Police Department investigators in contacting a suspect's mother in reference to an assault case.

At about 4 p.m., deputies responded to a potential residential structure fire on NE Indian Camp Avenue. The homeowner had inadvertently left a jug of diesel fuel on top of a fireplace and the heat from the fireplace melted the bottom of the jug. The diesel spilled onto the fireplace and ignited a fire. She was able to put out the fire by the time firefighters and law enforcement arrived on the scene. There was some damage to the wall and the roof surrounding the fireplace.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Cactus Park Road and Cedar Mesa Road for a dog at large complaint. A written warning was issued to the owner of the dog.

Gregory George of Paonia was found to be in violation of a protection order after a loaded firearm was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Feb. 8:

Deputies responded to a complaint about a vicious dog at large in the Crawford area. The complainant had discharged one round from his firearm, killing the dog. Contact was made with the dog's owner advising him of the situation.

At about 6:20 p.m., deputies responded to a medical problem at a residence near Delta.

Candy Austin of Eckert was arrested for violation of a protection order after deputies responded to a disturbance in Eckert.

Feb. 9:

A juvenile runaway was reported from a residence in Eckert.

Feb. 10:

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Fairview Road, approximately a half mile east of Trap Club Road. Kenny Pratte was charged with second degree arson (more than $100 in damage) after investigation determined he had allegedly set the vehicle on fire.

Feb. 11:

At about 10 a.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 92 and Crawford Road to assist the Colorado State Patrol with a one-vehicle vs. snowplow accident. There were no injuries and the airbags did not deploy.

UPDATE

On Nov. 18, 2018, officers of the Delta Police Department responded to Abraham Connection for a possible drug violation. Scott W. Gay, 60, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged unlawful possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance (methamphetamine). Those charges were dismissed on Nov. 26.
