From the Delta Police Department:

Feb. 23:

Theresa M. Zaabadick, 32, of Gunnison was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting.

Feb. 24:

Keith L. Kincade, 33, of Crawford was arrested and jailed for alleged DUI and license for drivers required.

Feb. 26:

A 13-year-old female and two 14-year-old females, all of Delta, were all issued tickets for alleged possession of marijuana.

Jade Z. Rodriguez, 26, of Cedaredge was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting.

Feb. 27:

Michael D. Gaddis, 47, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting.

A 17-year-old male of Hotchkiss was issued a ticket for alleged failure to yield right of way at a stop sign after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 92 at Crawford Avenue at 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported or observed.Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Feb. 28:

Dale J. Scarrow, 37, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged defective vehicle, drove motor vehicle while license revoked, displayed fictitious plates and failed to present evidence of insurance.

Jarrod R. Dawson, 36, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged DUI and failed to provide information and/or render aid after damaging another vehicle after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Meeker Street.No injuries were reported or observed. One vehicle was parked, unattended at the time; the other vehicle was driven from the scene.

Citations: 12 tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, seven for speeding.

Please remember: All criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.

Feb. 18:

An Austin man filed a complaint about a dog that keeps chasing his cows. Two are reportedly lame as a result.

Deputies have increased traffic patrol at the intersection of Crawford Road and Mathews Lane outside of Paonia, after repeated complaints about drivers failing to stop at the stop sign. At about 9 p.m., Austin Tunnell was observed driving through the intersection without stopping. After a roadside sobriety test, Tunnell, 20, of Paonia was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol or drugs, failure to stop as required at a stop sign, and failure to provide proof of insurance.

Feb. 20:

A rural Delta resident complained about neighbors who built a cinderblock enclosure near their house to hide the fact they are illegally burning trash.

A rural Delta resident asked for help keeping a wandering pit bull away from her dogs.

Feb. 21:

Deputies investigated a report of individuals shooting firearms from the bed of an older gray Ford pickup in Peach Valley. They patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Feb. 23:

A traffic stop at Hanson Mesa Road and Jacobs Road, Hotchkiss, resulted in the arrest of Tasha Whitescarver, 25, for driving a vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol or drugs or both.

At about 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to a camp trailer on fire on Doughspoon Road, near Trap Club Road.

Feb. 24:

A Delta area man reported he'd been convinced to pay a $500 fine via an Internet scam. He contacted deputies after he realized he'd been defrauded.

Deputies assisted the Colorado State Patrol with an accident involving a deer being struck on Highway 50 near B50 Road.

Shortly after 11 p.m. deputies were notified of a horse on F Road. The horse was corralled for the night and in the morning the owner was contacted.

Feb. 25:

Deputies contacted two juveniles walking on 1900 Road, near Highway 50. One of the juveniles was found to be a runaway and was returned to her father.

Shortly after 2 p.m., deputies responded to the Delta County Fairgrounds, on a report of a controlled burn near the river that had spread to an adjoining area.

Feb. 27:

An attic fire was reported at a home on Old Wagon Road, Delta. The chimney had apparently been blocked.

Feb. 29:

Shortly after midnight, sheriff's deputies were called to Delta County Memorial Hospital on a report of a female who had walked in for treatment after being hit by a vehicle in Orchard City. The incident is under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
