Delta High School's soccer team owned an early 2-0 lead in the opening half of last week's soccer match against Grand Valley. Unfortunately for the Panthers, Grand Valley regrouped for a second half run to outscore Delta 3-1 and earn a 4-3 victory in 3A Region 3 play.
The Panthers traveled to Craig on Saturday to face the Bulldogs. Delta played its best offensive game of the year and scored 10 goals while its defense shut out the Bulldogs.
GV 4, Delta 3
An early lead in the first half looked promising for Delta's Panthers in last Tuesday's soccer match against the visiting Grand Valley Cardinals.
Missa Webb was in the right spot at the right time for two relatively easy goals before the mid-point of the first half.
Grand Valley's Hannah Fenton netted a goal shortly before halftime cutting Delta's lead to 2-1.
Webb found the net for her third score early in second-half play for a 3-1 Delta lead.
The Cardinals began working the ball methodically following Webb's score and their patience and execution was rewarded with three unanswered goals, the winner coming with less than a minute left in the match.
