Delta tennis team loses, 6-1, to Aspen

Delta's recent trip to Aspen wasn't as successful as coach Christina Curtis would like to have had the trip go.

The loss to the Skiers (5-1, 2-1) has Aspen sitting in second place in 3A Region 8 standings while the Panthers are in fourth place with their 4-4, 3-2 records behind first-place Steamboat Springs (6-1,4-0) and third-place Vail Mountain (4-3, 4-3).

In Aspen, Delta's undefeated 3 Doubles team of freshman Melana McCormick and senior Haylee Curry won in a squeaker, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-8.

The Panthers' 2 Doubles team (seniors Lynette Arias and Berenice Rascon) took Olivia Berkley and Stef Wojcik to three sets before falling 6-0, 3-6, 10-7.

Delta's 1 Doubles team (junior Kendyll Siettmann and senior Shoshona Vigil) lost in two sets, 6-3 and 6-3 against the Skiers.

Sophomore Alyssa Bayless and freshman Mia Yost lost their 4 Doubles match, 6-4 and 6-1.

Senior Pascalina Earley, junior Olivia Santonastaso and freshman Elizabeth Lawrence lost their singles matches in straight sets.

Delta heads to Pueblo this weekend (April 19-20) to participate in the Pueblo South Invitational.
