The Paonia Eagles volleyball team went 1-1 last Friday at the 2A Regional 2 tournament in Lakewood to end the season with a 14-11 overall record. The Eagles opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Calhan (10-14). In the final game against No. 2 ranked Denver Christian, Paonia lost, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-8).
Paonia finished the 2A Western Slope league season in fourth place with an 8-4 record. Two western slope teams advance to this week's state championships at the Denver Coliseum. At 23-0 the only undefeated team in the state, Meeker is seeded third and receives a first-round bye; Vail Mountain (18-5) is seeded eighth and will face No. 9 Holly Thursday morning.
On May 1, the Cedaredge board of trustees met for a special meeting to appropriate an additional $35,000 from reserves as a loan to the golf course fund.
These funds will be used to purchased a used turf utility vehicle, a spray rig, and to make improvements to the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant.
