Delta High School's golf season was successful in many ways, including a trip to state (as a varsity team) for the first time in the school's history.

A playoff at regional play in Delta made it possible for the Panthers to make the trip to state as a team. By defeating Basalt High School in a playoff the Panthers became the second-place team in the regional meet and qualified as a team to attend this year's state golf meet.

Cedaredge's Bruins sent three qualifiers to state and finished 12th in team competition.

Peter Carlson led the Bruins with scores of 82 and 86 placing him in 39th in the tournament. Jacob Lewis had rounds of 87 and 89 to tie for 52nd place and Duncan Campbell fired rounds of 96 and 97 to finish in a tie for 73rd.

This year's 3A State Golf Meet was held at Saddle Rock Golf Club in Colorado Springs.

After the final round of play had concluded, Delta had earned a seventh-place finish in a field of 14 teams. On the first day of competition (Sept. 26) Delta posted a score of 246. Blake Reiher led Delta with an 80 with Logan Wood and Cristian Hall shooting 83. KC Carlson finished the first day with an 86.

Day two of the tournament was even better for the Panthers as they finished with a 241. Wood led the charge with a round of 75 followed by Reiher's 80, Carlson's 86 and Hall's 93.

Individually, Wood tied for 15th place, while Reiher's score placed him in a tie for 20th. Carlson tied for 46th and Hall tied for 52nd in a field of 84 linksters.

There were 64 teams that competed in Colorado's Class 3A golf in the 2016 season.
