Donald R. Wicburg died Oct. 15, 2016. He was 79.
He was born in Joliet, Ill., Nov. 20, 1936. He and his family moved to western Colorado in 1965.
He spent most of his life farming, cattle ranching and building custom homes. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. He served on the Montrose County School Board, as well as many other educational boards and organizations. He was a member of the NRA and the Elks.
In retirement, his interests were antique dealing and collecting. He also continued to work his Pea Green farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sports and being outside.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; two sons, Don (Clara) of Durango and Kevin (Tammy) of Delta; grandchildren, D.J., John, Jessica (Weylin) Johnson, Daniel (Jamie) and Jenna (Tyler) Roach; a sister, Paula Silverman; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James (Antoinette); and a sister, Barbara (Matthew) Gregurich.
No services are planned at this time.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
