At the Sept. 12 regular meeting of the Orchard City Board of Trustees, the drought task force presented an update on its progress. Previously it created a list of categories for evaluating drought need. Then it determined how to know if these categories have low enough water content to lead to drought declaration.
The next meeting, Sept. 25, will focus on "wrapping up final steps for what will need to be done during a drought until it is called off," said trustee Doug Keller.
After a two-week hiatus so trustee Keller can write up the recommendations, they will meet one last time to review the proposal on Oct. 9. Ideally they hope to present their findings to the board at the November work session.
The public is invited to attend and participate in these meetings. Two or more trustees may be in attendance but no official action will take place. These meetings will happen at 7 p.m. at 9661 2100 Road.
