Delta County area law enforcement agencies are joining forces to bring Dunk a Deputy to Cherry Days. Thursday and Friday, use your throwing arm to "Dunk a Deputy." From noon-5 p.m. daily, representatives from Delta County area law enforcement agencies will voluntarily seat themselves over a large tank of water. Citizens can pay a fee to dunk a deputy or officer, or a higher fee to dunk the chief, marshal or sheriff, by throwing three balls at a target. Hitting the target causes the seat to collapse, sending the law enforcer plunging into the tank. Proceeds will help area law enforcement agencies to raise awareness of the "Back the Badge" initiative that will be on this November's ballot. Information on the initiative will be available at the booth.
