The Paonia Eagles sent five into the championship round, and emerged with five champions -- Sackett Chesnik (138), Clay Campbell (145), Rockley Grey Neal (152), Anthony Felice (170) and Jaden Miller (182).
Chesnik, who is undefeated for the season, won against Rifle, Grand Valley and Delta and finished the tournament with an 8-5 win over Meeker's Tannen Kennedy.
Neal upset a slightly higher-ranked Colton Hoerr of Cedaredge in semifinals. In finals, and in their second match of the season, Neal defeated Jace Peebles of Hotchkiss by a 9-2 decision.
Campbell wrestled a nearly flawless tournament and was one of two champion wrestlers to pin all four opponents.
Felice was seeded second and pinned wrestlers from John Mall and Cedaredge before pinning No. 1 seeded Aiden Barrios of Delta to win the tournament title.
Miller won by a 6-3 decision over Nucla for the championship.
In his first high school tournament, freshman Reagan Todd (113) was 2-2 and placed fourth at Delta. In consolation semifinals Todd won by a 4-2 decision over No. 4 ranked DJ Van Matre of John Mall to advance to the third place round where he lost by a 1-0 decision to Cortez.
Jesse Burns (160) placed fifth with wins over Buena Vista, Hotchkiss and John Mall. Sophomore Zeb Etter (126) and senior Cyrus Malek-Madani (195) placed sixth.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
