Edna Aldridge of Cedaredge died Aug. 14, 2015, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta. She was 96.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cedaredge. Interment will follow at Cederedge Cemetery.
Edna Gertrude Core was born in Santa Fe, N.M., Feb. 7, 1919, to Ira and Stella (Sawyers) Core. The family later lived in Arkansas, where she started school. They moved to a ranch on Horse Fly Mesa near Ridgway when she was 7 years old, then to Cedaredge where she finished school and lived until her death.
She married Charles Aldridge Dec. 6, 1936, in Eckert.
Mrs. Aldridge was a homemaker and farm wife. She raised a large garden every year and preserved the produce. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother, fishing and picnicking on Grand Mesa.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She volunteered at Pioneer Town in Cedaredge for several years.
Mrs. Aldridge is survived by three daughters, G. Ann Aldridge, Lenda (Dan) Geolfos and Ricky Lea Aldridge; one son, Bud (Sue) Aldridge; one brother, Ira Core; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles Aldridge in 1989; a daughter, Edna "Dolly" in 1956; and two brothers.
