Elsie L. Dawirs died July 17, 2018, at her home in Delta. She was 92.
She was born Nov. 21, 1925, to Ernest and Winne (Gordon) Dever in Trenton, Neb., where she spent her childhood and attended school. After high school, she attended TVI in Albuquerque and received her CNA credentials.
On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Robert Dawirs in Kirk.
The Dawirs lived in Fort Collins and Boulder before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., and later to Tjeras. N.M. After retirement, they moved to Montrose, and then to Delta three years ago.
Mrs. Dawirs was a homemaker; she enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for the holidays. She also enjoyed square dancing, sewing, watching hummingbirds, playing cards and spending time with family.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose for many years and participated in its Supper Club. She was also an active Campfire Girls' leader, a Sunday school teacher and summer Bible school teacher for the babies and toddlers at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Albuquerque, N.M.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert; daughters, Diana Dawirs of Cedaredge and LuAnn Mayfield of Conyers, Ga.; son, Larry Dawirs of Murphy, N.C.; three brothers, Delmer (Nadine) Dever of Platteville, Kenneth (Phyllis) Dever of Evans, and Keith (Claudia) Dever of Loveland; one sister, Dorothy Thorson of Brighton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon and Lawrence Dever.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, from 2:30-4 p.m. at Crossroads Assisted Living Center, 1380 Aspen Way, Delta.
