Pioneer Town's Night on the Town on Saturday, June 20, was a roaring success in spite of the warm temperatures. More than 300 visitors of all ages enjoyed a great summer evening. Switching the event to a Saturday seemed to resonate well with all, especially the younger families.

Chirp Roderick kicked off the annual event with her honky-tonk piano playing and sing-along in the Lizard Head Saloon.

Live music provided by Emily Paige Wray and the band Rare followed, with enthusiasm from the musicians and the audience. What a treat for all ages!

The scavenger hunt gave kids the usual fun, as well as education and an adventure while searching through the buildings looking for the answers to printed questions. Prizes were given.

The blacksmith shop held a fiery forge and ringing hammers of Paul Michaels and crew. (Note - five women have already indicated a desire to take this summer's blacksmith class.)

Cap'n Billy and Rocky Mountain Rose, in character and costume, told 'tall-tales' in front of the town's jail.

"The food was great," "excellent," according to reports. Someone had to go out to get more hot dogs. Profit from food and sales from the gift shop, along with the sale of tickets dropped in cans throughout the museum and a silent auction of items and gift cards donated by local businesses, added to the funds needed for the upkeep and running of Pioneer Town and the surrounding grounds.

Chuck Harrington, co-chairman, with his wife Jan, said, "Sandy Carlson and all of the other wonderful volunteers, who worked so hard, can be proud of a great evening. It was great fun for all. This is what small town America is all about!"
