In its third matches of the season, the Paonia girls tennis team defeated Glenwood Springs last Thursday, 4-3.

At 1 singles, Alice Carrillo defeated Emily Nilsson, 6-1, 6-2; and at 2 singles, Jackie Mora remains undefeated for the season after a 6-1, 6-2 win over Glenwood's Rosalie Potvin.

In doubles, the 3D team of Princessa Mora and Paige Roberts defeated Glenwood's Miah Suarez and Ella Henderson, 6-4, 7-5.

Four matches went to a tiebreaker. At 3 singles, Sophia Cox fell in a tiebreaker to Kenzie Widner, 2-6, 7-5, (7-10). At 1D Shay Glaser and Carson Collins fell to Demons Eli Suarez and Emma Helm, 4-6, 6-6, (4-7);

and at 2D, Maria Mojarro and Kristal Camacho lost a long match to Glenwood's Chance Balis and Callie Blizzard, 3-6, 6-6, (8-10).

In the 4 doubles match, Paonia's Amelia DeMoraes and Izzi Houseweart fell to Taylor Gelpi and Emily DeMoraes in a tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-5, (6-10).

Paonia hosts Cedaredge at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Home matches are played at the Apple Valley Park courts.
