A Delta County Sheriff's Office deputy directs traffic in north Delta following a serious accident on Highway 50 between H38 Road and 1525 Road.

Update 12:23 p.m. Staff at the Delta Police Department (DPD) have revealed that the incident is being handled by DPD and the Delta County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the matter.

As the investigation is still ongoing, DPD is not releasing further information at this time.

Update 12:07 p.m. Highway 50 is re-opened as of 11:55 p.m.

Highway 50 is currently closed from H38 Road to 1525 Road in north Delta due to a "serious accident," according to the Delta County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).

There is not an estimated time for re-opening at this time.

"It is recommended any traffic needing to travel to/from Grand Junction take G50 Road," DCSO said on Facebook.

Delta County Sheriff Mark Taylor and Undersheriff Quinn Archibeque were not immediately available for comment.
