For our November meeting, members of the Plant & Dig Garden Club took advantage of Mother Nature's bounty of the fall season, gathering seed pods, dried grasses and fresh greenery to make wreaths which will decorate our homes, inside and out, until (and even after) Christmas decorations take center stage. Club member Barb Klein demonstrated how to attach these items to numerous types of wreath forms, showing us how different textures and colors can produce the best results using the products at our fingertips. Many of the members made beautiful wreaths to take home. Barb's creative mind and expertise helped us create our own masterpieces. Thank you, Barb, for sharing your knowledge and expertise in helping us create beauty for our pleasure from Earth's garden.
Club members elected a new slate of officers for the next two years. They will take over the guidance of our club at our January meeting, keeping our club focused on our goals of learning, community service, friendship and scholarship.
Club members also approved generous gifts to be made from our treasury to the Cedaredge food bank and to our animal shelter, vital community services that we have supported throughout the club's existence.
Lisa Joss, our gifted secretary, has updated the club brochure with new pictures and information regarding our club and its activities. It is not only nicely informative, but beautifully done. Thank you once again, Lisa, for your help with this latest project. These brochures will be distributed to the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce, Pioneer Town (when it opens next spring), as well as garden centers in the area. Pick one up and read all about us and enjoy the pictures of us having great fun.
Our annual Christmas gathering will once again this year be held at RJ's restaurant. We look forward to a wonderful meal, a raucous gift exchange, and Christmas wishes forthcoming between good friends who just happen to also be members of our club. It is a gathering we look forward to and enjoy immensely.
We cordially invite you to join us in our endeavors of gardening knowledge, community service, scholarship and friendship. For more information you may call 856-7077 or 856-3897.
From all of us to all of you, we extend the warmest Christmas wishes and hopes that a new year will bring to all peace, happiness and good health.
