A new year was kicked off for members of the Plant & Dig Garden Club with the recognition of new officers. New president Patt Jones offered a warm thank-you to all outgoing officers who were also presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation for their outstanding contribution to our club for the past two years.
This meeting was also designated as a planning meeting for programs to be enjoyed throughout the coming year. And our members brought forward many exciting and new ideas for consideration. The results are as follows:
February: Locally renowned artist Carol Rasmussen will present a program, "Alcohol Ink on Black Vinyl";
March: Linda Hansen will bring her power-point presentation, "Birds" for club members to peruse;
April: Visitation to the Ute Indian Museum and Medicinal Herb Garden in Montrose with a box lunch afterwards;
May: A tour of the Western Botanic Garden in Grand Junction and lunch afterward at a local restaurant;
June: A program on "Roses -- varieties, care and uses in our gardens" by club member Joan Chambers;
July: Annual field trip to Grand Mesa for wildflower viewing;
August: A visitation to "Living Farm" in Paonia;
September: Annual plant exchange in Cedaredge Town Park and garden tour of members' gardens;
October: An "Elevation Tea" in Hotchkiss;
November: Club member Gloria Good presenting a program on her Alpine and Crevice Garden with a tour of it afterward;
December: Annual Christmas party and gift exchange;
January 2020: Annual planning meeting.
This list of activities promises to bring a variety of new experiences to every member of our club. We look forward once again to a year of learning and friendship.
