GMUG employee receives prestigious Karstaedt Award

Corey Wong, public service staff officer, for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG), recently received the Rocky Mountain Region Randall Karstaedt Lands Achievement Award. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the national forest lands program through leadership, efficiency, representation of the Forest Service in their community, productivity, interaction with co-workers, dedication, mentoring and innovative problem-solving.

Over the past 15 years Wong has played an integral part in developing and maintaining a high-performing lands program for the GMUG National Forests with achievements in boundary and title management, land adjustment and special use permitting. His achievements include the addition of thousands of acres of lands into the national forest system, and building valuable relationships with local, regional and national partners.

"We are very proud to see Corey recognized for his hard work and dedication to the Forest Service and its mission," said Scott Armentrout, forest supervisor for the GMUG.
