At the Oct. 11 Orchard City town board meeting, Grace Andrews was presented a certificate naming her Student of the Month. Andrews is a senior at Cedaredge High School.
She has lettered in basketball and track and field. At the state track meet she placed 10th in the shot put competition and ninth in discus. Andrews has been the CHS football manager for two years.
Andrews is a student council member, class representative and has been a National Honor Society member the last two years. She received the Most Outstanding Junior Girl Award, lettered in academics all three years and is a scholar athlete. Andrews has also volunteered numerous hours collecting donations for charities and food banks.
The success she is most proud of is her achievement in academics. With a 4.15 GPA, she is ranked third in a class of 70. After graduation, she plans on attending college to obtain a degree in kinesiology. Her goal is to earn a master's degree and training as a physical therapist.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
