Recently, I had a serious horseback riding accident near Paonia. My injuries included a fractured spine and head trauma resulting in a subdural bleed. My life and future mobility were in a precarious situation. The professional actions of that North Fork EMS crew ensured that I would not only survive but would be able to walk and lead a normal life after surgery and recovery. This has been a life-changing experience and has defined for me the importance and critical nature of what our EMS crews do. They deliver front line emergency medical services in the rugged domain of the North Fork Valley. They did so compassionately, professionally, and timely. My outcome could have been catastrophic without them, and for that I am forever grateful.
