Harold Eugene Haining died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at his home in Delta. He was 92.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Delta.
Mr. Haining was born in Broken Bow, Neb., Nov. 14, 1923, to John and Clara (Osterloh) Haining. He spent his childhood and attended school in Nebraska. He moved to Grand Junction in 1954.
On Dec. 4, 1954, he married Mary L. Angotti in Raton, N.M. They had four children. The family moved to Delta in 1979.
Mr. Haining belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Delta. He was a member of 4-H and FFA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and especially working.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Haining of Delta; two sons, Jim (Debbie) Haining of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ron (Kim) Haining of Delta; two daughters, Julie (Gene) Thompson of Grand Junction and Joyce (Glen) Conger of Delta; a sister, Norma Barker of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; a son; three daughters; and an ex-wife.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
