The Delta County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) Volunteers recently awarded $3,500 in scholarships to Delta County senior high school students who are planning to major in a health related program at area colleges.
This year scholarship recipients each receiving $1000 scholarship are:
• Ana Jurca, Delta High School, with future plans to be a physical therapist, attending Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
• Courtney Rae Freeman, Cedaredge High School, who plans to be an OB nurse. She will be attending Colorado Northwestern Community College.
• Alexandra Wrich, Hotchkiss High School, who plans to be a nurse practioner. She will be attending Regis University in Denver.
This year's Junior Volunteer Scholarship recipient, receiving $500, is Ashley Sanchez, a home school student who plans to become a physician. She will attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
This is the 12th year DCMH Volunteers have awarded scholarships to Delta County high school seniors majoring in health-related programs in college. A scholarship committee composed of hospital volunteers evaluated the scholarship applications.
On May 1, the Cedaredge board of trustees met for a special meeting to appropriate an additional $35,000 from reserves as a loan to the golf course fund.
These funds will be used to purchased a used turf utility vehicle, a spray rig, and to make improvements to the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant.
