The Hotchkiss Bulldogs' girls team ended its regular season with a loss in Edwards to Vail Christian's Saints, 60-39.
Hotchkiss kept it close in the first quarter but stumbled in the second frame when the Saints exploded for a 24-6 run and a 36-16 halftime lead.
Scoring in the second half was nearly even with the Saints claiming a 24-23 advantage for a 60-39 decision.
Marti Schmidt scored 19 points for the Saints and Jessie Raitt added another 15 to the winning cause.
Vail Christian, 6-4 and 10-9, finished sixth in 2A District 5 standings while the Bulldogs, 3-8 and 6-12, finished ninth.
The Bulldogs played (see related story on this page) a pigtail play-in game on Monday in Plateau Valley (4-8 and 5-13) with the winner taking on league champion, and Class 2A leader, Paonia on Wednesday (Feb. 22) at 5:30 p.m.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
