The Hotchkiss girls split their two hoops games for the week, losing, 47-33 Friday against West Grand and playing a hard-fought 63-57 win Saturday against North Park.
Freshman Shay Glaser put 12 points on the board Friday against the Lady Mustangs, and sophomore Kaiya Firor added nine. Carson Collins, Kaleigh Little and Lacy Rodriguez combined for an additional 12 points. The Lady Bulldogs were four-for-10 from the line.
Against North Park, Hotchkiss outscored the Wildcats 35-20 in the first half.
The lead carried them through the second half. Three players scored in double digits, including Collins with 14, and Jenny McDonald and Rodriguez with 12. Firor, Elsie Vasquez, Cory West, Josie Hiatt, Little and Glaser all contributed points to the win.
The girls are now 6-11 overall and will finish the regular season Friday at Vail Christian (7-8).
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
