Seventh and eighth grade band members Izzi Houseweart (flute), Addi Neal (clarinet) and Tia Moore (percussion) were selected to participate in the CBA Western Slope Select Band.
High schoolers Katie Powers (flute) and Tristen Allen (percussion) were also named to the CBA Western Slope Select Band.
Jordan Denison and Tristen Allen were selected for the CBA Western Slope Honor Jazz Band.
Makahla Johnson, Ruby Shiflet, Jordan Denison, Christian Matus and Sam Rodriguez took part in the Colorado Choir Directors' Select Choir for high schoolers.
After a highly extensive audition process, five middle school students were named to the middle school All-State Choir -- Victoria Clark, Dana Hart, Bailey Miller, Emma Miller and Araina VenJohn.
The students were recognized at the Dec. 7 meeting of the school board, which was held at Hotchkiss K-8. Director Jeanette Carey said the middle school choir is just in its second year, yet more Hotchkiss K-8 vocalists were selected for All-State Choir than from any other school in the region.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
