Photo by Tamie Meck Construction along Second Street in Hotchkiss is near completion. The contractor anticipates repaving will be finished next week, the final part of a $1.8 million dollar project to replace century-old sewer lines.

The project by Williams Construction to re-surface the north section of Second Street is nearing completion, which will mark the end of the town's Sanitation Line Upgrade project.

Contractor Williams Construction estimates that the project to resurface 950 lineal feet of Second Street is anticipated to be complete the week of July 18, according to Hotchkiss Mayor Wendell Koontz. With the exception of a few loose ends, the project will mark completion by Williams Construction of the $1.8 million Sanitation Line Upgrade project to replace 100-year-old sewer lines.

The contractor has been on the job just over a year and stayed within budget, said Mayor Koontz. "They've done an excellent job. I can't say enough about them."

Mayor Koontz also credits Williams' project superintendent Steven "Lewie" Lewis and his crew for getting the job done. Town engineer Joanne Fagan and Public Works Director Mike Evans also are to be commended for their hard work.
