I'd like to compliment Veronica Minch on her March 9 letter, "Letter illustrates our country's divisiveness." Her letter was as right on as it could be. I have nothing to add except a Bible passage later. We are in a society that has been divided severely. So much so that one side refuses to even listen to the other. Some of us use this wonderful avenue, DCI, in hopes we can help someone see a better way. Her reference to Mr Laitres' insults make coming together harder. So, without further ado, lest I be labeled a plagiarist again, this passage is from the book of Isaiah passed on by the Apostle Paul in Acts 28 in the Holy Bible. After reading it, perhaps a little meditation would be in order. It was written 2,500 years ago, but seems like it was written yesterday: "Go to this people and say, 'You will keep on hearing, but will never understand, and you will keep on looking, but will never perceive. For the heart of this people has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.'
