Janet Claire Burgess of Delta died Sept. 2, 2017. She was 76.
She was born May 4, 1941, to Carl and Faye (Hawkins) Ginter in Cedaredge. She grew up on a ranch in Dry Creek east of Cedaredge and graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1959.
In 1958, she married Jim Hanrahan and they had two daughters. In 1978, she married Gerald Burgess; they were married 24 years until his death.
Mrs. Burgess was a member of the Delta County Historical Society, Altrusa International and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta.
She enjoyed gardening, four-wheeling, camping and attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events and activities.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by two daughters, Michele (Rob) Gallegos and Dana (Doug) Huff; four grandchildren, Danielle (Dustin) Germano, Misty Briscoe-Garcia, Ryan (Lisa) Briscoe and Kirk (Arienne) Huff; and 11 great-grandchildren, Carson, Caidin, Carter and Carly Germano, Elle and Cache Garcia, Ryder and Charlotte Briscoe, and Alexa, Kylie and Brianna Huff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Burgess; and brother, Carl Ginter Jr.

Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Delta at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Delta City Cemetery.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
