Working with the U.S. Forest Service, the Cedaredge Senior Hikers are making the Rim View Trail, located near Anderson Lake #2 off of the Land's End Road, much easier to follow and enjoy. The group is relocating signs and adding cairns to the existing trail.
Members of the Cedaredge Senior Hikers group on a river float outing last week ended up playing the role of heroes by rescuing a pair of tourists who had become stranded during their own Gunnison River outing.
Jude Kieca, a member of the Hikers' group, reported to the DCI that, "It turned out to be a exciting day as we rescued two doctors, one from New York and the other from New Mexico, who had wrapped their canoe around a rock.

Fifteen years ago Ruth Phillips started the Senior Hikers group. Over the years the group has evolved and changed, and is still alive and well because many folks have joined and been active.
Members of the Senior Hikers went on an outing recently with George Decker, a rancher and a member of the Chipeta Chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society, to the Book Cliffs to see the wild horses.
Decker lead the group to a sharpening site where prehistoric people sharpened their stone tools.
