Volunteers of America and Senior CommUnity Care PACE is pleased to announce Gary Hamrick as the new human resources director. Hamrick, a native of Delta County, will serve as the main point of contact for human resources needs for Senior CommUnity Care PACE employees in both Montrose and Delta counties.
Great Place to Work Institute has honored Volunteers of America National Services, a national housing and senior care provider, with certification as a "Great Place to Work." Volunteers of America manages seven different health care programs and five affordable housing communities in Montrose and Delta counties.
The church governing board of Volunteers of America has approved 48 individuals to become commissioned as Volunteers of America ministers from across the country. Two candidates are from western Colorado -- Erin Berge, regional marketing director, and Tara Cassidy, admissions and marketing director at Valley Manor Care Center.
Volunteers of America (VOA) will no longer lease the kitchen at the Delta Senior Center to prepare meals for its clients because VOA has acquired a new kitchen. However, VOA wishes to continue to serve meals at the Senior Center.
Volunteers of America health care management staff recently attended training to reduce the frequency of transfers to the acute hospital. Transfers to the hospital can be emotionally and physically difficult for long-term care residents, clients and participants, as well as costly.
