The bodies of two men, presumed to be those of Ryan Wells, 30, and Richard "Ricky" Colton, 30, both of Delta, were retrieved from Island Lake on Grand Mesa Monday by members of two Summit County Search and Rescue teams using a remote operated vehicle, or ROV. The ROV was able to locate the snowcat the men were reportedly driving across the lake, as well as the two bodies, in approximately 65 feet of water.
The Delta Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to a rescue call in Escalante Canyon Saturday, July 14, around 4:05 p.m. The call was reported as people trapped in a flash flood at the potholes.
On Sept. 21, Delta County Sheriff's Office Deputies Daniel Abeyta, Kevin Ray and Travis Lackey responded to a single vehicle accident in the 2100 block of State Highway 348. The accident was reported to dispatch by Larry Proctor, who was passing by and saw the vehicle in the ditch.
