Last month the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center (GMAEC) completed a series of classes designed to provide local students and families with fun and educational activities during school year breaks. Classes were held at the arts center in downtown Cedaredge in October and December 2018 and again in February and April of this year.
Nearly 400 students attended a variety of GMAEC classes which ranged from karate to quilt making along with traditional arts including print-making, drawing, painting and pottery.
Cedaredge Elementary School and Cedaredge Middle School helped with the process of registering students for classes and corporate sponsors allowed the center to keep tuition costs low and offer scholarships as needed. Sponsors for the 2018-19 school year classes included Alpine Bank, Cedaredge Tire & Auto, Cedar Mesa Club, Cedaredge Rotary Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, PEO (the Philanthropic Educational Organization), and Delta Ace Hardware.
This summer, the arts center will offer a June theater camp and July art classes. Details will be announced later this month.
