From the Delta Police Department:

Nov. 23:

John R. Silva, 70, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged overtaking on the right after being involved in a two-vehicle crash in the 600 block of Grand Avenue. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Britteny D. Farmer, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $500 bond.

Nov. 25:

Robert W. Lightner Jr., 59, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged violation of a protection order.

Bessie P. Botello-Gomez, 45, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged third degree assault and criminal mischief.

Nov. 26:

Christian Martinez, 34, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged third degree assault.

Nov. 26:

Edward L. Whitaker, 57, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged driving on roadways laned for traffic and DUI.

Nov. 29:

Deyanira Ruiz, 18, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged failed to yield right of way at a stop sign after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on E. 3rd Street at Riley Lane. No injuries were reported or observed. One vehicle was towed from the scene.

A 17-year-old male of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving after being involved in a one-vehicle crash in the 300 block of E. 4th Street. No injuries were reported or observed. The vehicle was driven from the scene.

Citations: Eight tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, four for speeding.

Please remember: All criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.

Nov. 23:

Larry Lowell, 55, of Cedaredge was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital after his Ford Explorer rolled at the intersection of T50 Road and Highway 50. The Colorado State Patrol handled the investigation.

Nov. 24:

A temporary resident of Gateway Youth Services was reported as an escapee after he ran away from a court appearance in Mesa County.

A storage unit at the intersection of Highway 65 and Highway 50 was broken into, but the renter could not find anything missing.

A rollover accident occurred on Highway 133 just east of Hotchkiss at about 4 p.m. The driver, Joanna Tucker of Paonia, was transported to DCMH. Hotchkiss Fire District, North Fork Ambulance, sheriff's deputies and Colorado State Patrol were on the scene.

A Delta area resident reported the theft of a shotgun, a Mossberg 12-gauge with a slide action bolt. The case was found in its usual place, but the shotgun was not inside. It was last seen about two weeks previously.

Nov. 25:

Devin Franklin was arrested in Eckert on outstanding warrants. After he was taken into custody, neighbors keeping an eye on his mother's home found a huge mess. Sheriff's deputies returned to the home and took into custody suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending.

A Delta County resident stopped in at the front desk of the sheriff's office to file a complaint about trash dumped in the 'dobies. He handed over identifying information he located with the trash.

A complaint was received about damage to a headstone, possibly caused by the groundskeeper.

A resident of Pansy Road, Delta, reported damage to a fence and four mailboxes. It's possible the damage was a deliberate act of criminal mischief.

Nov. 27:

A small shed was destroyed during a fire at the residence of Martin Roach, on Minnesota Creek Road outside of Paonia. The Paonia Fire Department extinguished the blaze. Roach told sheriff's deputies the blaze was likely caused by a discarded cigarette.

Nov. 28:

A resident of 25 Mesa Road, Delta, reported a pickup backed into her driveway, apparently in an attempt to steal her snowmobile trailer. She was able to provide deputies with a description of the vehicle.

The theft of a 1999 box trailer containing landscaping equipment was reported from 1600 Road. The trailer was later recovered at 1600 and D25 Road with most of its contents, which included chainsaws, hedge trimmers and miscellaneous tools. A white two-speed Bobcat skid steer valued at $65,000 remains missing. Delta County Undersheriff Mark Taylor says it appears the skid steer was driven out onto 1600 Road to the old Jim Keune place at 3888 1600 Road, where it was loaded onto a trailer and hauled away. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 874-8810.

Nov. 29:

Kathy Grimland was involved in a single car accident at milemarker 56 on Highway 50. Her Ford Ranger reportedly struck the concrete divider between the lanes of the highway. She was not injured. The Colorado State Patrol handled the investigation.
