Jan. 20:

Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Palmer Street for an assault. Jon Michael Jeffryes, 47, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment as an act of domestic violence and resisting arrest.

Sean Lee Metheny, 33, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $750 bond.

Officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Villa Street for a juvenile problem.

Jan. 21:

An officer responded to the 100 block of Columbia for a possible burglary.

Code enforcement opened five cases for keeping of junk.

David Michael Wilkins, 44, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged driving while license revoked, driving under the influence (alcohol) and violation of a protection order.

Code enforcement issued a written warning to 617 Columbia Street for alleged keeping of junk and littering.

Code enforcement issued written warnings to 616 Silver Street and 635 Columbia Street for keeping of junk.

Jan. 22:

Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of E. 5th Street for a possible drug overdose.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Main Street for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident. A 17-year-old female of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged speed unsafe for conditions. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

An officer responded to Delta County Memorial Hospital on a report of a hit and run accident. The "hit" vehicle was unoccupied at the time.

Code enforcement identified code violations pertaining to travel homes in the 1500 block of H-25 Road and in the 400 block of W. 6th Street.

Code enforcement issued eight written warnings pertaining to keeping of junk and littering in the 100 block of W. 6th Street.

Code enforcement issued a warning for keeping of junk and abandoned vehicles to 656 Palmer Street.

Jan. 23:

An officer took a report of alleged theft at the Delta County Courthouse.

An officer responded to Four Seasons River Inn, 676 Highway 50, for a theft.

Officers responded to US Bank, 488 Highway 92, for a two-vehicle accident in front of the bank. Kendra Cheri Lehr, 23, of Eckert was arrested and jailed for alleged following too closely and driving under the influence (alcohol). No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Code enforcement responded to a residence in the 1000 block of E. 5th Street on a report of a nuisance animal.

Code enforcement responded to a residence in the 1700 block of South Apple Drive on a report of possible animal poisoning. The suspicious food was bird seed.

Jan. 24:

An officer took a report of a possible missing person. The individual was located a short time later.

Eleanor Keely Ballard received a verbal warning for dog running at large.

Thomas William Zachary Faster, 23, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $3,000 bond.

Code enforcement identified a code violation in the 900 block of Palmer Street.

Jan. 26:

Officers responded to Highway 92 at mile marker 4 to assist Colorado State Patrol with a two-vehicle accident involving injuries and blockage resulting in road closure.

Officers responded to DCMH on a report of an assault. Derek Ross Bate, 18, of Hotchkiss was arrested and jailed for alleged third degree assault and possession of a controlled substance.

Code enforcement issued a written warning for littering at 1345 Howard Street.

Code enforcement issued a written notice to 809 Palmer Street for use of a travel home.

Code enforcement issued a written notice pertaining to the use and location of a travel home at 1663 H-38 Road.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of E. 7th Street.

Jan. 26:

Officers responded to a disturbance at 689 Highway 50. James Anthony Stockton, 23, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged third degree assault and resisting arrest.

Officers assisted a person having a medical emergency in the 500 block of Columbia.

Reminder: The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Jan. 22:

A complaint was filed by a Delta area woman who received a $1,200 bill from Verizon for an account fraudulently set up in her name.

Dispatch was contacted after a vehicle pulled into the driveway of a home on Deer Run Road near Delta and the driver fled from the scene. It was later determined the vehicle had probably been stolen. Deputies and the K-9 team tracked the suspect down the hill, across the river and into a salvage yard. The search ended at nightfall without locating the suspect.

Jan. 23:

Deputies received a traffic accident on Back River Road near Hotchkiss. Investigation revealed the female driver had been the victim of domestic violence. Travis Carpenter was arrested at his home on Back River Road and charged with three counts of violating a restraining order, second degree assault and domestic violence.

At about 11:40 p.m., a deputy accompanied a Cedaredge officer to check out an audible alarm at Starr's Guitars, 250 W. Main Street. After finding a door open, they moved through the store without encountering anything unusual. As they began to climb the stairs to the second floor, they heard voices. They identified themselves as law enforcement before encountering a female who said she occupied an apartment on that floor. They apologized for startling the woman and exited the building, making sure the doors were secured behind them.

Jan. 24:

Deputies were dispatched to an address on Alkali Basin Road to investigate illegal burning.

Jan. 25:

Deputies assisted the Colorado State Patrol with a traffic accident near the intersection of Highway 92 and 1900 Road. Michael Johnson was killed in the single-car rollover; the female driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital.

At about 6:30 p.m., the sheriff's office received a report of three missing parties near Electric Mountain Lodge. All parties were located with the assistance of Mesa County Search and Rescue and found to be in good health.

Jan. 26:

Deputies took a report of a burglary that occurred Jan. 21 on Pansy Road near Delta.

The theft of narcotics was reported from a home on Surface Creek Road near Cedaredge.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Black Bridge Road near Paonia to conduct a welfare check on a man who was making suicidal and homicidal statements.

Deputies conducted a welfare check on a suicidal male party at an address outside of Delta. The man was found to be in good health but was intoxicated. The Center for Mental Health was on scene for this incident.

Jan. 27:

Deputies responded to an address on Willow Road, Paonia, to assist the Center for Mental Health in placing a medical hold on a male party. He was transported to Delta County Memorial Hospital without incident.

Trespassing and a possible theft were reported at a farm on Bull Mesa Road. The out-of-town homeowner was contacted by a neighbor asking about some pipe and a skid steer on the property. Investigation turned up a suspect, who took deputies to where the skid steer and five bundles of eight-inch pipe had been moved elsewhere on the property. Charges are pending.
