From the Delta Police Department:

March 1:

Jennifer M. Barnett, 21, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged harassment.

March 2:

Kenneth L. Spann, 59, of Almont was issued a ticket for alleged disobeyed a red signal light after being involved in a two vehicle crash on Main Street at 4th Street. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

March 3:

Alton P. Nelson, 31, of Vanderwagon, N.M., was arrested and jailed on a warrant with no bond.

Bill B. Thorn, 43, of Paonia was arrested and jailed for alleged cruelty to animals, harassment and menacing.

March 5:

Charges are being filed on Shawn S. Lewis, 30, of Delta for alleged first degree criminal trespass.

March 6:

Jeffery D. Nutter, 61, of Delta was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $500 bond.

Citations: 23 tickets for traffic violations were issued this week, 20 for speeding.

Feb. 29:

A 39-year-old female from Grand Junction showed up in the hospital emergency room claiming she had been hit by a vehicle while walking down Highway 65 in the Eckert area. The investigation is being handled by the Colorado State Patrol.

A Delta County road and bridge crew asked for deputies' assistance after encountering boulders placed on the edge of Tongue Creek Road. The property owners were confrontational when the county road crew attempted to move the boulders, which were considered a hazardous obstacle.

Two black labs were found inside a pen after reportedly killing 89 pheasants, chukar and grouse inside that pen on Scenic Mesa Road. The value of the game birds was $1,400. The owner of the birds and the owner of the dogs are working on an agreement for reimbursement and no charges have been filed.

At about 10 p.m., a resident living near the bowling alley reported a raccoon that was "stalking" her cat and dogs. The raccoon continued to act aggressively toward the property owner and the deputy when he arrived on scene and was subsequently destroyed.

March 1:

The theft of a dirt bike was reportedly from the front of a residence on G50 Road, Delta. The homeowner reported hearing a racket about 10:30 the previous night. Two suspects were identified by an anonymous tipster and the investigation is ongoing.

Deputies investigated a dispute between an 18-year-old male and his grandfather, who reportedly pulled a knife when the teen attempted to remove some of his belongings from the residence they shared in Crawford. The grandfather adamantly denied using the knife in a threatening manner.

March 2:

An Olathe woman called dispatch to report she was being followed by a former boyfriend as she was driving to work in Grand Junction. She was advised to turn back toward Delta, but didn't want to be late for work. It was then suggested she go to the Grand Junction Police Department. Both the GJPD and Colorado State Patrol were apprised of the situation.

March 3:

At about 7 p.m., search and rescue and Delta firefighters were mobilized to search for a 5-year-old boy who had been missing from his home on Mountain View Drive, Delta, for about an hour. About 20 friends and family members also joined in the search. The boy was found a short time later some distance from his house. He was safe and unharmed.

March 5:

Cedaredge firefighters responded to an Austin address for a prescribed burn that got out of control and damaged a neighbor's fence. The neighbor declined to pursue criminal charges.

Around noon, Delta firefighters were called to a fire on Deer Run Road, Delta. The homeowner had been burning previously and thought the fire was out. It flared up and damaged an outbuilding, ATVs and the siding of his house.
