April 21:

An officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of Grand Avenue on a report of a found firearm. A rifle was placed into safekeeping for the owner to claim.

An officer took a report of a possible sexual assault.

An officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of E. 11th Street to assist the Delta County Sheriff's Office in the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

April 22:

At 1:43 a.m., officers located three juvenile males in the area of Cleland Park and Delta Middle School. One 15-year-old male of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged trespass and juvenile loitering. The other two 15-year-old males, also of Delta, were issued tickets for alleged trespass, juvenile loitering and interference with an officer.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Labor Street on a report of a stolen motorcycle.

Officers responded to Stinker Convenience Store for a disturbance. Tyler Anthony Saenz, 37, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged harassment, third degree criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

An officer responded to Erick's Auto Sales, 1429 Highway 50, on a report of auto theft.

An officer responded to Walmart, on a report of a shoplifting and found property. The found item, a red purse, was placed into safekeeping.

Jessica Lynn Earl, 32, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged violation of a protection order.

Lea Marie Trickel, 29, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting at Walmart.

A burglary and theft was reported at a residence in the 1700 block of Hillcrest Drive.

April 23:

Code enforcement conducted follow up on seven properties at Wide Acres Mobile Home Park for junk violations. All properties have been cleaned up and the violations corrected.

Ricky Dean Rarick, 55, of Cedaredge was issued a ticket for alleged littering.

Code enforcement impounded a stray female red and white, boxer/pit mix type dog from Country Acres Mobile Home Park, 1205 Highway 50.

An officer responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 400 block of Riley Lane.

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of E. 5th Street and Riley Lane. Both vehicles were driven from the scene. One passenger was transported to DCMH by Delta County Ambulance.

Officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Vine Street on a report of gun shots being fired. Jesus Octavio Morales, 44, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged reckless endangerment, prohibited use of a weapon and violation of bail bond conditions.

April 24:

Code enforcement is addressing a weed abatement violation at 224 Palmer Street.

April 25:

Code enforcement followed up on a littering violation at a residence in the 600 block of Silver Street. The violation has been corrected.

Code enforcement followed up on junk/weed violations at a residence in the 1200 block of Meeker Street. The violations have been corrected.

An officer responded to a theft at Quality Inn. The stolen property was located and returned to the rightful owner. Anthony Heneha, 27, of Eckert was issued a ticket for alleged theft.

An officer took a report of a theft of a cell phone that allegedly occurred April 24 at the hospital.

Officers responded to the intersection of Palmer and W. 3rd Street on a report of a two-vehicle accident. Two people were transported by Delta County Ambulance District to DCMH with unknown injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Catherine Ann Sampsidis, 61, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.

A student with drug paraphernalia was reported at Delta High School. The 17-year-old Delta male was ticketed.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 50 and Pioneer Road. No injuries were reported or observed. Both vehicles were driven from the scene. Adam Leo Peloquin, 45, of Olathe was issued a ticket for alleged careless driving and failed to present evidence of insurance.

April 26:

Code enforcement responded to the area of 8th and Columbia Streets on a report of a dog running loose. A female red colored Pitbull type dog was located and taken to the TAILS Animal Shelter for safekeeping. The dog was later released to her owner. Staci Marie Moralez, 33, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged running at large (second offense), rabies vaccination required and city animal license required.

An officer provided assistance to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Nicholas Robert Emery, 22, of Cedaredge was issued a ticket for alleged second degree criminal trespass in the 500 block of B Street.

A wallet was reported stolen at Dollar Tree.

Officers responded to suspicious activity at Sonic. Sarah Allie Argueta, 21, of Eckert was arrested and jailed for alleged criminal impersonation, cbstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, violation of bail bond conditions and theft.

April 27:

A burglary was reported at Quality Inn.

An officer responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Bluff Street on a report of auto theft. A 1997 Honda Accord, maroon in color with front end damage, was taken from the residence by unknown person(s).

Christopher Lee Friesen, 22, of Paonia was arrested and jailed on a warrant with a $500 bond.

Dennis James Sine, 53, of Utah was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting at City Market.

Lea Marie Trickel, 29, of Delta was issued a ticket for alleged shoplifting at City Market.

Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Crawford Avenue on a report of a trespasser. Jonathan Wilfred Lopez, 65, of Delta was arrested and jailed for alleged trespass and interference with an officer.

April 23:

Gary Cornell, 65, of Cedaredge was severely burned in a camp fire in a wooded area near 2550 Road. He was flown to St. Mary's Hospital by helicopter. He told deputies he had fallen asleep near the fire.

Deputies responded a dog at large complaint near the intersection of Indian Head Lane and Cathedral Lane near Cedaredge. The owner of the dog was issued a summons.

April 24:

A deputy was dispatched to the Orchard City Town Hall for a report of an entry door glass being broken in a possible attempted break-in during the night.

The sheriff's office responded to the intersection of Iris Road and Fox Ridge Drive, Austin, for a water dispute/harassment report.

Deputies received a report of a possible trespass on Sundown Road near Delta. After investigation, the incident was deemed to be a civil matter.

April 25:

Two courthouse employes turned over a large purse they'd found hidden in a trash can with the plastic trash can liner covering it. The courthouse security team searched the purse for identification and found eight hypodermic syringes, a dark liquid substance, burnt foil and empty baggies. The contents of the purse led them to tentatively identify Deborah Cook as the owner. They are attempting to contact her. It's believed she stashed the purse before it could be searched by court security.

The K-9 team visited Garnet Mesa Elementary School for a presentation to the kindergarten classes.

At approximately 1:40 p.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 65 near milemarker 16. The driver and single occupant of the vehicle, from Riverton, Wyo., was transported to the hospital with unknown back injuries. The Colorado State Patrol handled the investigation.

Deputies responded to the potholes area in Escalante Canyon for a report of two stranded dogs. They were unable to locate the dogs or the person who made the report.

A break-in was reported at storage units outside of Paonia. A 7-year-old Sanyo television was the only item found to be missing.

April 26:

Deputies responded to a barking dog complaint on Ward Creek Road near Cedaredge. After investigation, deputies determined the matter is civil in nature, with both parties having valid complaints.

Deputies responded to a possible case of animal neglect at a Hotchkiss area residence. The investigation remains active.

The K-9 team visited residents at Horizons Care Center.

April 27:

Deputies assisted the Hotchkiss Marshal's Office with a fugitive from justice at an address on 3100 Road. A male was taken into custody, booked on the outstanding warrant and charged with a drug violation.

A REDDI report was received concerning an incident near the intersection of North Road and Ward Creek Road in Eckert. A gold Holda Goldwing motorcycle fell over, and when motorists went to help the driver get the motorcycle back on its wheels, they smelled alcohol on his breath. Damon Dustin of Delta was taken into custody by the Colorado State Patrol.

April 28:

Deputies were dispatched to an address on 3100 Road, Hotchkiss, for an agency assist for the New York Police Department. The NYPD was gathering information on a fraud claim.

A juvenile runaway was reported from an address on Pany Road, Delta.

Deputies responded to a fist fight in the Delta County Jail. One inmate reportedly assaulted another inmate, inflicting facial injuries that required medical attention.
