The North Fork Valley is in the midst of local elections. The results of what might not seem like such a "big deal" can determine whether our towns will continue operating with forward progress or be trapped again trying to operate with council opponents throwing roadblocks on every issue at every meeting.
Paonia has 10 candidates for four positions. After reading the interviews published in last week's DCI (still available online at deltacounty
independent.com), I am both amazed and somewhat disappointed. Among the candidates, we have hardworking and proven public servants, some single issue "arts and grants" folks, a candidate who quit mid-term rather than face censure and two men who haven't been bothered to even attend town meetings. I would encourage ALL Paonia voters to read about the candidates and then I further encourage choosing candidates with a proven record of service to the town.
