Colorado writer, photographer and columnist Carolyn White will be signing both her books, "Bricks underneath a Hoop Skirt" and "Trucks are for Girls," on Saturday, June 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore, located at 2451 Patterson Road in Grand Junction.

White is best known for her whimsical stories and travel features in the Fence Post periodical (2005-2017). She has also written for Colorado Central, Grand Valley (GV), Montrose Style, Gunnison Country, and Colorado Life.

A lifelong camper, hiker, caver, and horseback rider, White grew up in southeastern Ohio, graduating from Ohio University with degrees in English and creative writing. She later attended wilderness survival school in Kamiah, Idaho, earning a license to guide, pack and cook for backcountry hunters, fishermen and trail riders. Over the next two decades she lived exclusively in high-mountain snow country, often without electricity, telephone or daily mail service. One of the places she worked on was so remote, it could only be accessed by horseback, team and wagon, or snowmobile.

"Bricks underneath a Hoop Skirt" is about those adventures in primitive living. "Trucks are for Girls" revolves around the not-so-easy return to civilization. Both are humorous, educational, and down-to-earth. Since publication in 2018, White's memories have earned five stars and continue to sell out.

In addition to the Barnes & Noble event, autographed copies are available through the official website, www.unleashedpublishingco.com or through White's Facebook page, Carolyn White book series.
