The following student-athletes were recently named to the Colorado High School Activities Association All-State football teams for 2017.
From Class 2A, Delta senior Logan Church was selected to the First Team. Honorable mention players from Delta included seniors Josh Reeder (offensive/defensive lineman) and Brendon Starr (running back/linebacker).
Delta County 1A All-State football players from Cedaredge included senior Craig Claunch who was an honorable mention selection.
From Hotchkiss, seniors Nolan Egging (guard/tackle) and Colton Peeble (running back/middle linebacker/punter) were named to the Second Team.
Paonia High School topped this year's selections with four players named to the All-State elite team. Senior Jaden Miller (running back/linebacker) was named to the First Team with seniors Clay Campbell and Cyrus Malek-Madani (offensive/defensive linemen) landing on the Second Team. Sophomore Levi Peterson was an honorable mention selection as an offensive and defensive lineman.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
