Longtime Delta County resident Maria Estela Yzquierdo died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at her home in Hotchkiss. She was 64.
She was born in Fabens, Texas, Jan. 27, 1952, to Francisco and Ines (Granado) Yzquierdo. She spent her childhood and attended school in Fabens, Texas. She attended the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). After moving from Texas, she lived in the North Fork area for 32 years.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Isaac Bogart of Colorado Springs; daughter, Sarah Bogart of Castle Rock; four brothers, Fred, Hector, Ruben and Jaime Yzquierdo; four sisters, Irene Yzquierdo, Lydia Johnson, Marta Cruz and Sylvia Mennell; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
