Mary Ercelia Gallegos died on April 6, 2019. She was 96.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
She was born in Tercio to Juan and Caroline (Duran) Dominguez on March 10, 1923. She spent her childhood in Pitkin.
She married Alfredo Gallegos in Gunnison on June 26, 1938. They had 15 children. They moved to Delta in 1950 where they remained.
Mrs. Gallegos was a member of the Guadalupe Society and the Altar and Rosary Society. She and her husband were bell ringers for the Salvation Army. She volunteered at the Delta County Memorial Hospital as a pink lady and also for Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Gallegos enjoyed playing cards, crosswords, word searches, puzzles and cooking.
She is survived by seven sons, Jose, David, Tim, Fred, John, Phil, and Alfred Gallegos; six daughters, Lucille Olivas, Pauline Krieger, Margie Polk, Rose Gallegos, Carol Gallegos and Celia Castillo; sisters, Lilian Bueno, Micky Martinez and Betty DiMarco; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Gallegos; sons, James and Johnny Gallegos; brother, Able Dominguez; and sisters, Louise Roybal, Clara Espinoza, Gertrude Salas and Mary Salas.
