Members of Lee Marts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3571, Harry A. White American Legion Post #65, and their Auxiliaries, assisted by the Civil Air Patrol Delta County Cadet Squadron, presented Memorial Day ceremonies at Mesa View and Delta City Cemeteries. The ceremonies paid tribute to all deceased American veterans, concluding with the salute fired by a joint American Legion/VFW firing squad composed of Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force gunners and echo taps played by the father and son team of Richard and Christopher Weldon.
The audiences at the ceremonies were a mix of veterans, veterans' families, and non-veterans, all silently honoring those veterans who have been laid to rest, not only in the Delta cemeteries, but in the "hallowed ground" where veterans rest anywhere in the world.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
