Merrill J. "Sandy" Sanderson of Cliff, N.M., died March 15, 2017, at his home. He was 87.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., June 30, 1929, to Lester and Leila (Jibson) Sanderson.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired as a chemical engineer from Borden Chemical in Louisiana. He and his wife Maxine lived in Delta for four years and were participants in the PACE program.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maxine; a daughter, April (Paul) Wikstrom of Cliff, N.M.; two sisters, Pat (Tom) Kendall of Asheville, N.C., and Margaret Kelly.
At his request, cremation has taken place.

Two of the four marijuana questions on the November ballot were narrowly approved by voters in the City of Delta. Measure 2F allows the establishment of medical marijuana centers. Measure 2H permits the establishment of medical marijuana cultivation, testing, research and manufacturing facilities.
